PEYRONIE’S DISEASE (Bent Penis)
One of the most known sexual issues in men, Peyronie’s Disease is the condition of a bent penis during erection. The problem arises due to fibrous plaque, a scar tissue that forms inside the penis. Peyronie’s disease may not affect your sex life, may not be uncomfortable and harmful to your partner but is still dangerous. There are people with Peyronie’s disease who experience painful intercourse and painful erections. If left untreated, it can even lead to Erectile Dysfunction.
There can be many underlying factors behind a bent penis such as:
- Genetic problem/ disorder
- Internal bleeding due to an accident/ injury
- Repeated damages during sex or athletic activity, etc.
But the cause of Peyronie’s disease is still not completely understood i.e., the exact reason behind it is still unknown.
Treatment:
Though it’s common for the penis to slightly bend when it is erect, the problem arises when the bend seems more significant or visible. Many people still believe that Peyronie’s disease can resolve on its own. If left undiagnosed, there is a higher chance for the disease to turn into Erectile Dysfunction. Either you will experience Erectile Dysfunction before Peyronie’s disease or vice versa.
When it comes to treatment, there are many ways to cure or reduce the symptoms of deformity up to a certain extent. Surgery is the most reliable option when it comes to treating Peyronie’s disease. Seeking the right help at the right time can definitely stabilize the deformity and improve one’s sexual performance.
