A Penile Doppler ultrasound is a specialized test used to evaluate the blood flow to the penis and is typically recommended only when clinically indicated, such as in cases of erectile dysfunction where vascular causes are suspected.
At our clinic, this test is not done routinely, but may be advised after a thorough evaluation when necessary.
How the Test Works
The procedure is conducted at our partner radiology scan center to ensure quality and privacy.
- It involves the administration of 20 mg of papaverine injected into the penile tissue (intracavernosal injection) to stimulate an erection.
- Following the injection, an ultrasound is used to assess arterial inflow and venous outflow, helping us determine whether the issue is due to vascular, neurogenic, or other causes.
What You Should Know
- The test is safe, minimally invasive, and performed under medical supervision.
- It provides valuable information in complex cases and helps guide the most effective treatment.
- Your comfort and confidentiality are our priority throughout the process.
If you’re experiencing erectile concerns, rest assured that every test or treatment we recommend is done with clear medical reasoning and in line with international sexual medicine guidelines.
