Premature ejaculation, also known as ejaculation precox, is the most common ejaculation disorder, if not the most common sexual disorder in men.
A number of large epidemiological studies as well as extensive personal experience in daily consultations have shown that prolonged, premature ejaculation almost always has significant negative effects on the psyche of the person affected, as well as on their sexual life and partnership.
The diagnosis of premature ejaculation is based primarily on the information provided by the men concerned, who can usually state very precisely how quickly the ejaculation occurs.
Precox / Premature Ejaculation
Based on the research results of human studies, it is believed that this so common male sexual disorder is due to a malfunction of the serotonin receptorsis due either to an underactive serotonin 5-HT2C receptors, which normally suppress ejaculation, or to an overactive function of the 5-HT1a receptors, which normally stimulate ejaculation. Recent studies have also shown that men with what is known as ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and those with a history of prolonged bed-wetting at night also tend to suffer from premature ejaculation.
